SMART GROWTH COMMITTEE <br /> INFORMATION <br />PURPOSE STATEMENT <br />The Chapel Hill-Carrboro School District has submitted CUP plans for the proposed High School # 3 to <br />be located at located at 201 Rock Haven Road, off of Smith Level Road (see Attachment A). The plans <br />are still being reviewed by staff but a public hearing has been requested by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City <br />School System to allow for public discussion of the design. The School representatives will make a brief <br />presentation. <br />Staff is coordinating the public hearing to accommodate the request of the school system (see Attachment <br />B).. The school system is interested in receiving public input at this stage in the process even though the <br />plans are not yet complete. The public hearing should be continued to a later date at the conclusion of the <br />Tune 8'~' discussion. <br />The public hearing notification area for the hearing is consistent with the notification requirements for a <br />Conditional Use Permit meaning all renters and property owners within 1000 feet of the suUject property <br />have been given written notification, As the project is still undergoing staff review, no staff report or <br />analysis is included at this time however, the proposed plans are attached for your reference (Attachment <br />C).. No permit will be issued or considered dining the public hearing.. <br />Members of the Advisory Boards will be invited to attend the hearing. The applicant intends to give a <br />brief presentation. Staff will be available to answer questions. <br />Note that the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) of Orange County has been working together with <br />the Chapel Hill -Carrboro City School Board to develop "Smart Growth Recommendations" to guide the <br />06-08-2004#3 <br />
