He <br />said Sky Publix came to Orange County three times, but the proposed site has residential next <br />to it. <br />Steve Brantley said a Japanese company has also visited twice in the past nine months, <br />but announced last week in Sanford: 109 jobs in auto parts, and a $30 million investment. He <br />said this company was heavy manufacturing, and Orange County had residential by its site. <br />Steve Brantley said there are statistics for the cost of services, but for business <br />recruitment is that it is detrimental; it is not compatible. He said one would not buy/build a home <br />next to a factory, and factories do not want to buy/build next to residential. He said the more <br />the County puts money in the ground to provide water and sewer, the more the properties <br />proliferate with housing; and the less likely it becomes that a quality investor, like Morinaga, will <br />want to build near by. <br />Commissioner Price said the Board still does not know what type of economic <br />development it wants. She said Raleigh has economic development next to residential, and it <br />all depends on the type of economic development that is pursued. She said the Board needs to
