3 <br /> <br />Commissioner Jacobs said over the summer Jerry Passmore, long-term aging director, <br />passed away. <br />Commissioner Jacobs said that the Piedmont Food and Agricultural Processing Center <br />(PFAP) is doing better than it has done before, and staff is talking about expansion; a real <br />success story. <br />Commissioner Jacobs said Community Home Trust is having its annual fundraiser on <br />Friday, September 7th. <br />Commissioner Marcoplos said GoTriangle is now distributing free youth passes (for 13- <br />18 year olds) in Orange County, and he listed the places to pick one up: Carrboro Cybrary and <br />the Orange County library in Hillsborough. <br />Chair Dorosin said the Board has an annual meeting with City of Mebane, but he was <br />talking to the Manager and Commissioner Rich about establishing a working group with several <br />elected officials and staff, where there can be more effective engagement on issues that are <br />current to both entities. He said this would allow for greater on going conversation. <br />Commissioner Jacobs asked if this group would be in lieu of having the meeting with <br />Mebane this fall, or subsequent to. <br />Chair Dorosin said this would be in lieu of having the September 13th meeting, but an <br />alternative meeting date will be set after this work group has met. <br />Commissioner Price said she was at a community meeting last week, and Mebane was <br />also there. She said there were issues of concern for both Mebane and Orange County at <br />large. <br />Commissioner Rich said it would be set up like the Chatham/Orange County work group, <br />and suggested making this a petition as it gives a formal request from Orange County to <br />Mebane. <br />Chair Dorosin said he would make a petition. <br />Commissioner Jacobs suggested giving the work group a limited time prior to having a <br />joint meeting between all elected officials, or have the joint meeting first to determine how to set <br />up the group, and what topics will be covered. He said Agritourism and farmland preservation <br />are two topics that initiated the joint meetings years ago. <br />Bonnie Hammersley said sewer lines will be transferred to Mebane on October, and <br />suggested a social meeting at that time to discuss the scope of the work group. <br />Chair Dorosin asked John Roberts if he could provide a short update on the Barn of <br />Chapel Hill, and the status of last Board of Adjustment (BOA) meeting, as related to the Barn. <br />Chair Dorosin attended the dedication for the Habitat for Humanity house that was <br />moved from the Sportsplex to Hillsborough. He said it was a wonderful event, and he <br />commended all the staff that was involved. <br />Chair Dorosin said there is another dedication at Waterstone this coming Saturday. <br /> <br />The Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) needs three volunteers to serve on the <br />2019 retreat planning committee. <br />Discussion ensued and the volunteers will be: Chair Dorosin, Commissioner McKee and <br />Commissioner Price. <br /> <br />4.
