AGENCY INFORMATION (Be Very Brief and Concise) <br /> Please provide the fallowing information about your agency(2 pages OR LESS): <br /> a) Years in Operation, [late of Incorporation (MonthlYear): <br /> IFC was founded in 1963 and has been operating for 55 years. It was incorporated in <br /> November 1975. <br /> b) Agency's Purpose/Mission (no more than a few sentences): <br /> IFC confronts the causes and responds to the effects of poverty in our community. We <br /> believe in a community where everyone's basic needs are met, including dignified and <br /> affordable housing, an abundance of healthy food, and meaningful social connection. <br /> c) Types of Services the Agency Provides (bullet format): <br /> IFC is a lead provider of safety-net services for Orange County, including the Towns of <br /> Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Services include: <br /> • Homelessness Prevention and Emergency Assistance: Rent and utility <br /> assistance; clothing and transportation vouchers; essential medication <br /> purchase; counsel, information and referrals <br /> • Shelter: The only shelters in Change County. HomeStart for 14 women and 10 <br /> families, Community House for 52 men, and up to 20 additional people during <br /> inclement weather <br /> • Permanent Supportive Housing: Housing subsidies in market-rate units and <br /> case management for the County's most vulnerable residents <br /> • Food Security Programs: Primary food provider in Chapel Hill and Carrboro <br /> through the Community Kitchen (hot meals every day) and the Food Pantry <br /> (groceries as often as monthly to neighbors in need) <br /> • Rapid Re-Housing Program: Short-term housing assistance and case <br /> management for homeless residents <br /> d) Agency's History with Providing These Services: <br /> In 1963, seven local women united to address the conditions of poverty in Chapel Hill <br /> and Carrboro through the coordinated efforts of volunteers. Since then, IFC has become <br /> the primary provider of basic needs services for people living and/or working in Chapel <br /> Hill and Carrboro. Originally a volunteer-run organization, IFC has built our capacity to <br /> respond quickly and competently to the diverse needs of the lowest income residents <br /> and workers in our community. <br /> e) Other Pertinent Agency Information (Ex. Has the agency experienced any major changes <br /> in the past year?is there a new Executive Director?Are there new initiatives?) <br /> In the past year, IFC filled a trio of key leadership positions. Following a nationwide <br /> search for its next Executive Director, IFC hired Jackie Jenks, MSW, who started in <br /> April 2617 and brings extensive, relevant experience. The organization rebuilt its <br /> finance and operations team, now under the seasoned leadership of Jeffrey Causey, <br /> MPA and CPA.
