Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness —2018 Data Update <br /> 2 The Board received updated data about homelessness in Orange County submitted to <br /> 3 the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) earlier this year. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 BACKGROUND: <br /> 6 The Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness (OCPEH) was created in 2008 to <br /> 7 coordinate funding and activities to end homelessness in Orange County. OCPEH is jointly <br /> 8 funded by Orange County (39%) and the Towns of Carrboro (15%), Chapel Hill (41%), and <br /> 9 Hillsborough (5%). <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Homelessness in Orange County is up 13%. OCPEH Coordinator Corey Root will present the <br /> 12 updated data and discuss how current increases relate to identified gaps in the homeless <br /> 13 service system, including rapid re-housing and street outreach programs. The Coordinator will <br /> 14 also discuss how another identified gap, an accessible and housing-focused homeless shelter, <br /> 15 would be filled if changes to the Good Neighbor Plan are adopted by the Town of Chapel Hill <br /> 16 this fall. <br /> 17 Corey Root, Homeless Programs Coordinator, made the following PowerPoint <br /> 18 presentation: <br /> 19 <br /> 20 2018 Data Update <br /> 21 <br /> 22 September 20, 2018 <br /> 23 Point-in-Time count conducted each January <br /> 24 • Long-standing measure <br /> 25 • Great way to get involved/learn more about homelessness <br /> 26 • Perfect?
