2 <br /> 1 Arts Moment—Will Stewart, representing Hear&After. Hear&After is a group of individuals, <br /> 2 former youth poets, activists, musicians, and community organizers who have come together to <br /> 3 create spaces for community art and expression. They seek to empower the people through the <br /> 4 tools of spoken and written word, performance, and artistic expression. Based in Chapel Hill, <br /> 5 and serving the Triangle area, Hear & After's goal is to provide a platform for both its members <br /> 6 and the community it serves. <br /> 7 Will Stewart read a piece of his work. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 2. Announcements, Petitions and Comments by Board Members <br /> 19 Commissioner Jacobs asked if the meeting with Chapel Hill had been rescheduled. <br /> 20 Bonnie Hammersley said she and Donna Baker are working with the Chapel Hill Town <br /> 21 Manager on possible dates. <br /> 22 Commissioner Jacobs asked if the "environmental impacts" will be added to the meeting <br /> 23 agendas going forward. <br /> 24 Commissioner Rich said this has not been talked about in agenda review. <br /> 25 Bonnie Hammersley said her recollection was that it was not determined yet, but she <br /> 26 would do research. <br /> 27 Commissioner Jacobs said Commissioner Marcoplos made the request, and the Board <br /> 28 agreed. <br /> 29 Commissioner McKee arrived at 7:08 p.m. <br /> 30 Commissioner Burroughs said there was an article about the Camelot Apartments, <br /> 31 which encouraged people to donate to the Friends of the Department of Social Services (DSS). <br /> 32 She asked if the Board has a role in contributing from the social justice fund to these residents <br /> 33 who suffered hurricane damage. She said she would like to know the extent of the problem, <br /> 34 and if there is a role for the County. <br /> 35 Bonnie Hammersley said staff will be report on the hurricane event at the October 16th <br /> 36 meeting, and can address this issue at that time. <br /> 37 Commissioner Price said she was also going to address that issue. She said she <br /> 38 contacted Orange Congregations in Missions (OCIM) to determine the situation in Orange <br /> 39 County, and she found out that there were evacuees from the east coast living in this area for a <br /> 40 time. She listed items that were needed. She said some evacuees are being moved from <br /> 41 shelter to shelter in other counties, which is sad. <br /> 42 Bonnie Hammersley said she would work with the Emergency Services director on that. <br /> 43 Commissioner Price said there is a Suicide Prevention walk in Gold Park tomorrow night <br /> 44 at 6:30 p.m. <br /> 45 Commissioner Price petitioned to proclaim October Dysautonomia Awareness Month, as <br /> 46 requested by an Orange High School student. <br /> 47 Commissioner Rich said it is on the October 16th agenda. <br /> 48 Commissioner Price petitioned to recognize Jaki Shelton Green as the North Carolina <br /> 49 Poet Laureate. <br />
