J. h!. Hobbs, Cormni ssioners Dwight Yt, Ray, Henr7 S, <br />klalker and Donald iA. Stanford. <br />Members absent: Co~mnissioner Donald ?ici]ade. <br />The Poll o:ufng Hers ons appealed property v¢luation: <br />I.1. Ed Laws in Cedar Grove Township; <br />tdr. L. i. Heard for the Willism id. Harrell Mfg. Co. ir, H111s born Township; <br />Dr. H. S. Willis of Teeny Circle in Chanel Hill Toimshin; and <br />i•tr. Z¢ne, Tax Agent for 9urlington i4111s which owns the Carrboro Cloolen hii lls in <br />Chop el Hill Toumshin. <br />As there were no other anpe als to be heard et this tir..e, the 3oard adjourned end <br />immedi ste ly reconvened as a Board of County Co:nmis si oners. <br />[9r. G, Pnul Carr, Sunerintend¢nt of the County School System, appeared and present e~ <br />a petition from the County School 8oerd end the Chanel Hi11 City Adminis trnti ve Unit <br />School Board requesting a special election on the question of adding to tho crew of <br />the Chanel Hi11 City Aaministrativc Unit Special School Dis trio. This petition rras <br />referred to tde ssrs, Grahem and Ronson, County Attorneys, for their opinion with the <br />re guest they edvise the 3oard of the proper action for them to teke et their next <br />meeting. <br />It was moved by Commissioner Stenf ord and seconded by Conuni ssi oner Ray that the <br />County invest $300,000.00 of the recently aca uirsd school bond issue nroce eds Sn <br />~= II. 5. Treasury CertiClcates presently gielding 1.35;0 which come due August 1, 1956, <br />and :1;200,000.00 of these proceeds in U. S. Tre esury Convertible Notes yielding 1.29,= <br />due October 1, 1958. <br />Tha re being no further bun iness, the meeting was adjourned. <br />R. J. id. Board members present, <br />Tae purpose of this sped el meeting was to receive ¢ petition n: ese nt ed by the <br />County Board of Education and the Hord of Education of the Ch epel :'.111 Administrative <br />Unit reaues tin,:, the addition of Carrbora ¢nd 'white Cross school districts to the <br />Chapel 5111 Administreti ve unit. <br />1•tr. A. 'r.. Grahem, County Attorney, report ed to the board his findings concerning <br />the petition, an3 then read a description of the Brea to be ennexed into the district. <br />Thereafter, a goner el discussion concerning the bounderies of this district wes held. <br />The Chai nnan of the Board then deler:ated to Commissioner Ray and Commissioner <br />9t anford each the responsibility of securing two judges and one registrcr to officiate <br />in Che pronos ed ele cti an. <br />After it was determined that several families which hove long been in the 4lhite <br />Cross district were excluded from the area to be enne:ted to the Chanel Hill Adninis- <br />tretive Unit, the Chairman of the Cotvnty Board of Education reaues ted the petition <br />'oe withdr gum i.n order that the bo.md¢r ies Wright be re-arawn to correct this situation. <br />
