DocuSign Envelope ID:CDF9031E-5B49-4BEC-BB4A-204A0897A15D
Orange County
Emergency Services
510 Meadowlands Drive
Hillsborough,NC 27278
919.245.6100
Franchise Agency
Address
January 18, 2017
Congratulations on the granting of a Franchise to operate convalescent ambulance transport service in
Orange County. Orange County is committed to providing the very best service to our residents. Your
agency's commitment to excellent service was a deciding factor in the granting of the franchise.
As Orange County transitioned into a fee for service model for ambulance services in the mid 1990's
residents expressed concern that they would not be able to afford the service and expressed reluctance
to reach out for the service when it was necessary.
In the late 1990's Orange County developed a program entitled the EMS Assistance Program for which
referrals could be made for residents who were unable to pay the fee for ambulance services. Qualifying
Orange County residents' EMS charges are subsidized through this program.
As a vital Orange County service, your agency should track instances in which Orange County residents
are without methods of paying for the service and should also track the number of times the transport is
canceled due to financial reasons. Orange County Emergency Services will monitor these instances and
will review the scope for potential expansion of the EMS Assistance Program. Please provide the
accounting of these occurrences on a monthly basis to the attention of the EMS Operations Manager,
Kim Woodward.
We look forward to working with your agency and together ensuring that ambulance services, both
emergency and scheduled, are available to residents in need.
Sincerely,
Dinah Jeffries
Emergency Services Director
Orange County Emergency Services
A Prepared, Coordinated, and Integrated Emergency Services System
Twitter @,ocncemergency
