u~ <br />BOUNDARIES AND STATISTICS <br />Orange County currently has multiple geo-political bom~daries in place. <br />Using pre-existing boundaries simplifies the process for evaluating <br />distribution and density of population in Orange County, Existing <br />boundary methods include; county lines, city linuts, townships, school <br />districts, North Carolina House of Representatives districts (all of Orange <br />County is in one North Carolina Senate district), and voting precincts. <br />Two methods of estimating population are used. The first method uses <br />population statistics provided by the Orange County Plamiing <br />Department based on the last national census in 2000 and growth <br />estimates from the State of North Carolina. The second method uses <br />registered voter information provided by the Orange County Board of <br />Elections.
