<br />Memorandum of Understanding between Orange County, North Carolina and Durham <br />Technical Community College <br />Paramedic Academy <br /> <br />This Memorandum of Understanding is entered into this 18th day of September, 2018, by and <br />between the Orange County by and through its Department of Emergency Services (referred to as <br />“OCES”) and Durham Technical Community College (referred to as “DTCC”) (collectively referred to <br />as the “Parties”). <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the parties desire to enter into this Memorandum of Understanding in order to <br />establish the mutually agreed upon conditions upon which DTCC will provide certain services to <br />OCES in connection with the Orange County Paramedic Academy Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the DTCC is an approved Educational Institution as defined by the rules of the <br />North Carolina Medical Care Commission to provide a paramedical educational program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Orange County is a local governmental entity that employees paramedics in its’ <br />OCES department and has a paramedic academy training program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, OCES desires that DTCC provide paramedic education to its employees in the <br />paramedic academy training program. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the parties to this Memorandum hereby agree as follows: <br /> <br />1.Durham Tech will provide the following: <br /> <br />a.Lesson plans; <br />b.Training documentation; <br />c.Clinical sites for required rotations; <br />d.Faculty and instructional costs; <br />e.Equipment; <br />f.Approve schedule of instruction; <br />g.Approve clinical competency requirements; <br />h.All costs associated with the course; and <br />i.Attest that course requirements will not change once a class has begun, any change to <br />course requirement will require a new MOU between Orange County and Durham <br />Technical Community College <br />j.DTCC will provide a Schedule of Instruction (See Exhibit A), as may be amended from <br />time to time, that shall at a minimum meet the most current edition of the National EMS <br />Education Standards for Paramedic Education and the courses must be approved by the <br />North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services. <br /> <br />2.Orange County EMS will provide the following: <br /> <br />a.Approve a schedule for their employees; <br />b.Pay contracted employees 10% below the starting salary of a paramedic to attend class, <br />clinical and testing; <br />c.Ensure that all students clinical hours are completed as a third rider; <br />d.Provide a primary preceptor for the students; <br />DocuSign Envelope ID: 1D2F72E1-7812-4189-AADB-755F2C851397
