Surnmer: college and career readiness workshops <br /> o Homework Help & Tutoring <br /> o Support on Demand: brief counseling, intervention and support for students <br /> o Community Service & Service Learning projects (year-round) <br /> d) Agency's History with Providing These Services: <br /> Launched as a pilot alternative to suspension program of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA in <br /> January 2006, Boomerang expanded to include after school activities in 2008 and began <br /> summer programming in 2010. Boomerang Youth, Inc., began operations as a 501(c)3 on <br /> July 1, 2015. <br /> e) Other Pertinent Agency Information (Ex. Has the agency experienced any major changes <br /> in the past year? is there a new Executive Director?Are there new initiatives?) <br /> Boomerang completed its first year of operations as an independent non-profit. <br /> Boomerang has new partnerships with: <br /> • The Teen Center/Town of Chapel Hill where Boomerang delivers after school <br /> programming for high school students with the assistance of a part-time Parks & Rec <br /> employee during the school year. <br /> • Town of Chapel Hill Police Department where police officers participate in weekly <br /> restorative circles during Alternative to Suspension programming (conflict & <br /> communication skill-building). <br /> • Refugee Community Partnership where Boomerang provides after school services to <br /> refugee high school students, including summer programming. <br /> Agency Information Page 4 of 20 <br />
