MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY ADULT CARE HOME ADVISORY COMMITTEE <br />MAY 31, 2018 <br />3:30 PM PASSMORE CENTER <br /> <br />Members In attendance: <br />Gloria Brown <br />Will Lang <br />Yvonne Mendenhall <br />Michael Zuber <br />Autumn Cox – Regional Ombudsman <br />Mary Fraser – Liaison to OCDOA <br />Amanda Weir-Gertzog – Intern with OCDOA <br /> <br />Also, in Attendance for public portion of the meeting: <br />Tiketha Collins <br />John Lyons <br /> <br />Autumn Cox chaired the meeting due to Committee Chair, Max Mason’s absence <br /> <br />1. The meeting was called to order <br />2. Introductions. Tiketha Collins and John Lyons were introduced as new committee <br />recruits preparing for training in the ACH CAC. <br />3. Autumn reported that there are 4 recruits including those present at the meeting, who are <br />being trained and will do initial site visits in the coming weeks. <br />4. Mary Fraser gave the Orange County Department on Aging Report: Mary will be retiring <br />from OCDA on June 29 and moving out of state. Interviewing for her replacement is <br />underway. She gave an update on the Long-Term Care initiative within the current <br />Master Aging Plan. She also discussed the Long-Term Care Senior Resource Team <br />newly created from the current Project EngAGE graduating class. Mary reports that both <br />the Master Aging Plan committee n Long Term Care and the Resource Team will be <br />focusing on offering a continuous focus on Orange County Long Term Care facilities <br />with a goal to offer improvements to facilities. <br />5. Autumn gave the Ombudsman report mentioning recent and ongoing complaint <br />investigations into Orange County facilities. <br />6. Autumn and Yvonne proposed creating and using a Closed Facebook page to supplement <br />communications for this committee. Another ACH CAC Committee Autumn works with <br />has successfully launched a Closed Facebook Page. A poll of members indicated less <br />than 50% of the current members are Facebook members. Because the efficiency of a <br />Closed Group page relies on membership usage, the idea was dismissed. <br />7. Autumn will establish team assignments after the current new recruits are trained. <br />Members are asked to email any preferences for assignments to Autumn as soon as <br />possible. <br />8. Due to the increase in Family Care Homes in Orange County in the past several years, <br />Mary Fraser suggested that the committee consider visiting those facilities quarterly <br />rather than annually.
