DocuSign Envelope ID:79C5D167-B6CA-4E59-B4AC-AA38CC1 B20BD <br /> Orange County Emergency Services ` <br /> Exposure Control Program <br /> x <br /> Standard Operating Procedures <br /> EC 1 : Health Maintenance: <br /> • No new personnel will be assigned to emergency response duties until an <br /> entrance physical assessment has been performed and has been certified as fit <br /> for duty. <br /> • The Exposure Control Officer may initiate work restrictions for reasons of <br /> Exposure Control. These may be temporary or permanent. For example, <br /> personnel with extensive dermatitis or open skin lesions on exposed areas may <br /> be restricted from providing patient care or handling and / or decontamination of <br /> patient care equipment. <br /> • All personnel will be offered a TB Skin Test, immunization against hepatitis B, <br /> and will be required to show proof of immunization against influenza, measles, <br /> mumps, rubella, poliomyelitis (polio), tetanus, and diphtheria. The risks and <br /> benefits of hepatitis B immunization will be explained to all personnel and <br /> informed consent obtained prior to immunization. <br /> • Personnel who refuse immunization will be counseled on the occupational risks <br /> of communicable disease, and required to sign a refusal of immunization form. <br /> Personnel who initially refuse immunization may later receive immunization upon <br /> request. <br /> • All personnel will be offered initial and yearly screening for tuberculosis <br /> exposure. <br /> • All personnel will receive annual health evaluations. <br /> • Any personnel returning to work following injury, illness or communicable <br /> disease, (occupational or not) will be released by the Exposure Control Officer <br /> prior to resuming emergency response duties. <br /> • All personnel will receive an exit health evaluation upon being reassigned to non- <br /> response duties or upon termination of employment of the department. <br /> • The Department Exposure Control Officer will maintain records in accordance <br /> with OSHA CFR 29, Part 1910.1030. Personnel participation in the Exposure <br /> Control Program will be documented, including: <br /> o Name and SSN of personnel. <br /> o Immunization records. <br /> o Annual medical evaluation records as needed. <br /> o Infection control / exposure control plan training participation. <br /> o PPE training and fitting. <br /> o Incidents of potential exposure to communicable diseases and incident <br /> investigation results. <br /> o Post-exposure medical evaluation, treatment, and follow-up. <br /> • Exposure Control records will become a part of the personnel's personal health <br /> file and will be maintained for duration of employment plus thirty (30) years. <br /> Revised July,2018 <br />
