State law requires, that in order <br />for members to be eligible to participate in the Pension Fund and receive a year of credit in the <br />fund, members must attend thirty-six (36) hours of training in the calendar year, The Fire <br />Marshal received seventy-two (72) hours of training in fire/arson investigations and incident <br />command systems. Certificates of training are included with the agenda abstract. <br />North Carolina General Statute 58-86-25 requires submission of a complete and certified roster <br />of eligible staff annually. The governing body, the County Commissioners, must certify the <br />annual certification roster, The certified roster and minimum training requirements determine <br />eligibility for Pension Fund credit as well as line of duty death benefits, The roster document, <br />which is utilized bath for membership in the NC State Firemen's Association and for Pension <br />Fund Certification, is attached and lists two individuals. However, under Pension Fund <br />Certification guidelines, only the Fire Marshal is eligible for certification. The other individual <br />listed is for Firemen's Association purposes only, and the BQCG is only addressing Pension <br />Fund Certification far the Fire Marshah <br />As an additional paint of information, individual County fire departments submit their own <br />Pension Fund Certification rosters based an approval by their respective boards of directors <br />and signature of approval by the respective board's president, <br />
