Smart Start Grant Project <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. <br />PUBLIC HEARING: (Y /N) No <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Donna Dean 245 -2151 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough 732 -8181 <br />Ordinance Chapel Hill 968 -4501 <br />Durham 688 -7331 <br />Mebane 336 - 227 -2031 <br />PURPOSE: To approve budget ordinance and grant project ordinance amendments for fiscal <br />year 2004 -05. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Department of Social Services <br />The Department of Social Services has received notification from the State of additional <br />funds for the current fiscal year for the following programs: <br />Foster Care — an additional receipt of State reimbursement funds totaling $22,178 due to <br />the number of children who are currently in foster care. The department is currently <br />serving 120 children. These additional funds bring the current budget for this program to <br />$100,178 for FY 2004 -05. This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these <br />funds. (See Attachment 1, column #1) <br />b. Health Choice —an additional State allocation totaling $13,855 to be used for foster care <br />board expenses and clothing expenses for children currently in foster care. These <br />additional funds bring the current budget to $33,855 for FY 2004 -05. This budget <br />amendment provides for the receipt of these funds. (See Attachment 1, column #1) <br />
