P <br />The creation and preservation of infrastructure, policies, programs and funding necessary <br />for residents to provide shelter, food, clothing and medical care for themselves and their <br />dependents. <br />• GOAL: CREATE A SAFE COMMUNITY <br />The reduction of risks from vehicle /traffic accidents, childhood and senior injuries, gang <br />activity, substance abuse and domestic violence. <br />The lease renewal option for the DSS campus at Hillsborough Commons will provide significantly <br />improved facilities and program support to advance these goals. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve a five (5) year <br />lease renewal option for the Department of Social Services campus within Hillsborough <br />Commons for a term beginning January 22, 2019 through January 21, 2024 and authorize the <br />Chair to sign on behalf of the Board of Orange County Commissioners. <br />
