It processes about 6,000 tons of yard and <br />food wastes per year. Further, an AD facility digesting source- separated organics has been <br />commercially operating in Toronto, Canada for a number of years processing about 90,000 tons <br />per year. A second AD facility is currently under construction in Toronto and should be <br />operating within a year. Similar AD facilities have been authorized by Quebec City and <br />Montreal with additional facilities funded in the Province of Quebec. <br />Based on our understanding of the AD process and results of numerous feasibility and pilot <br />studies, SCS understands an AD operation of the size required to process the Town's waste <br />would require as few as three (3) to four (4) staff. <br />12.6 BENCHMARK METRICS <br />12.6.1 Summary of Current Town Solid Waste Statistics <br />As described in Section 2, at the writing of this report, the Town generates and disposes <br />approximately 17,000 to 18,000 tons per year of MSW and yard waste. Based on census data, <br />population projections, and current disposal practices, this volume is anticipated to reach <br />approximately 21,500 tons in 15 years and 27,400 tons in 30 years. These current and future <br />generation and disposal statistics equate to a design operating range of 55 to 90 tons per day, <br />assuming 6 days per week operations, while allowing 1 day per week for maintenance, repair, <br />and residuals management. As described, the Town has historically paid a tip fee of $57 per ton <br />to the Orange County Landfill, and anticipates lower tip fees with consideration of other disposal <br />options. <br />v2.1 174 10/22%12 <br />
