Now serving 330+ <br />locations, yielding over 1,000 tons a year. <br />Downtown Cardboard Collection (Chapel Hill only) — fee - based, negotiated directly with <br />Chapel Hill and available to other Towns upon request. <br />Downtown Pedestrian Bins — fee - based, negotiated rate for Chapel Hill and Carrboro and <br />may be available to more locations in those towns and Hillsborough <br />Park & Ride Lot Collection (currently 3 locations in Chapel Hill and 2 in Carrboro) <br />Municipal Parks Collection — services provided at all parks in Chapel Hill and <br />Hillsborough, consolidated in Carrboro to one service location, <br />Government building collection — every- other -week indoor recycling service at all local <br />government buildings, OWASA, some State and Federal facilities and some off - campus <br />UNC owned sites. <br />Public Housing - (multi - family style service or single family, as appropriate to housing <br />type) — the 330+ units of public housing have been serviced in the same manner as <br />other residences, whether multi - family or single family type service; County provides <br />periodic communication as needed with Department of Public Housing regarding <br />recycling programs. <br />Public Schools collection -- fee based, contracted service negotiated directly with both <br />school systems. <br />Recycling (unstaffed) Drop -off Centers — five recycling drop -off centers within the Towns <br />are serviced and maintained by County on an as needed basis; materials include clean - <br />dry paper, metal cans, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles /tubs /cups, drink and milk <br />cartons, cardboard, aerosol cans, aluminum foil /trays. <br />Hazardous Household Waste and Electronics Collection: available to all County residents <br />and small businesses at Orange County landfill (second site for residents only at Walnut <br />Grove Church Rd SWCC). <br />Customer Service, Education and Outreach <br />Advertising and publication education: County prepares, distributes, pays for and <br />coordinates all education and outreach materials related to waste management, <br />recycling and waste reduction services /programs under its administration using a multi- <br />media approach <br />Public events, fairs, festivals: County routinely provides recycling and waste reduction <br />services and educational presence at most major public events in all jurisdictions. <br />
