6 <br /> <br /> <br />This the 19th day of June 2018. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Marcoplos, seconded by Commissioner McKee to <br />approve the proclamation recognizing the Chapel Hill High School Women’s Soccer Team for <br />winning the 2018 State Championship, and authorize the Chair to sign the proclamation on <br />behalf of the Board. <br /> <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> <br /> <br />b. Proclamation Recognizing the Carrboro High School Men’s Tennis Team for <br />Winning the 2018 State Championship <br />The Board considered voting to approve a proclamation recognizing the Carrboro High <br />School Men’s Tennis Team for winning the 2018 State Championship, and authorizing the Chair <br />to sign. <br />Todd McGee, Community Relations Director, said this team has the second highest <br />GPA of any team in North Carolina. <br />Commissioner Burroughs read the proclamation: <br /> <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />PROCLAMATION OF RECOGNITION ON <br />CARRBORO HIGH SCHOOL MEN’S TENNIS TEAM <br />WINNING THE 2018 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on May 19, 2018, the Carrboro High School Men’s Tennis Team won the North <br />Carolina High School Athletic Association’s 2A State Championship with a 5-2 <br />victory over Brevard High School; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the team completed its season with a 16-2 record; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the doubles team of Zach Anderson and Andre Javen also won the 2A state <br />championship in the individual competition; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, under the guidance of Coach Jon Noyes, the team won its third state championship <br />in the past five years, along with the 2014 and 2015 championships; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, through hard work, dedication, teamwork, and commitment, the team brought <br />honor upon themselves, Carrboro High School, the Chapel Hill/Carrboro City <br />Schools District and Orange County; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />expresses its sincere appreciation and respect for the Carrboro High School <br />Men’s Tennis Team and Coach Noyes for their outstanding achievement, and <br />their inspiration to youth across North Carolina through their dedication, <br />teamwork, and athletic prowess. <br /> <br />This the 19th day of June 2018. <br />
