Prior to my retirement last fall, I was an attorney with Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities, Inc. in Columbia, SC (P&A) (the equivalent of Disability Rights North Carolina). P&A operated a program called Team Advocacy, which inspected community residential care facilities (the equivalent of board and care homes). In my role as attorney I worked on legislation and reports affecting these facilities, as well as serving on various advisory bodies and committees and consulting on legal issues raised in our inspections. Although extremely new to this area, I am familiar with the issues and would welcome the opportunity to serve.
