He said to shave 5 minutes off each segment to get the
beginning 15 minutes, and to take 30 minutes from hour 3 to use at the end to wrap everything
up. He also agreed with Commissioner Marcoplos' points.
Todd McGee asked if the Board would like to have all of the Commissioners on a panel
in the last 15 minutes, or select a more narrow body.
Chair Dorosin said it should be a panel, like the other segments, but maybe have
someone from transportation, housing, schools and DSS, etc.
Bonnie Hammersley said staff will pull this together.
Todd McGee suggested having Chair Dorosin at the beginning and the end.
Chair Dorosin said he would appreciate that responsibility.
Commissioner Rich asked if this will air more than once.
Todd McGee said it will be on the WCHL website, and repeatedly broadcast on the
cable access channel.
Commissioner Marcoplos said perfection may not be achieved the first time around, and
to do it this year and see what can be learned from the experience. He said this could grow into
a wonderful annual program.
Chair Dorosin said there is consensus in having a 15- minute introduction, and a 30-
minute panel at the end, and collapsing the tourism segment into one. He said Commissioner
Rich will discuss tourism; Commissioner McKee will discuss small business; Commissioner
Jacobs will discuss Food Systems; Commissioner Price will discuss the Arts; Commissioner
Marcoplos will discuss industrial recruitment.
Commissioner Burroughs said she would pass on participating.
Topics and Panels (3:00 — 7:00 PM):
Hour 1: The Creative Economy
• First segment: The Arts Economy
Lead panelist: Katie Murray, Director, Orange County Arts Commission
Guest panelist: TBD (someone who receives an arts grant with a tie -in to economic
development)
Commissioner panelist: Commissioner Price
• Second segment: The Entrepreneurial Economy
Lead panelist: Dina Rousset, LAUNCH program manager
Guest panelist: Representatives from Academic Benchmarking Consortium, Quantworks or
other successful LAUNCH start -up as determined by LAUNCH
Commissioner:
Staff backup: Yvonne Scarlett
Hour 2: Nexus of Local Food Systems
Panelists: James Watts, Weaver Street buyer; Sue Ellsworth, PFAP Assistant Manager
Guest panelists: Representatives from Food Council, Seal the Seasons, Boxcar Cheese, LOCO
Pops
Commissioner: Commissioner Jacobs
Staff backup: Mike Ortosky
Hour 3: Orange County as a Destination
• First segment: Tourism
