He would not want the County to suffer backlash, and risk losing what little it has. He <br />said the district tax has been a source of discussion for decades, and it keeps going up. He <br />said the desire for equality is a noble aspiration, and worthy of ongoing discussion. <br />Commissioner Price agreed. <br />Commissioner McKee said the public spoke loudly with its vote on a merger in years <br />past. He said the Board could scale the district tax back slowly, while raising the taxes on the <br />County. <br />Commissioner Jacobs said nobody ever voted on the merger, but did vote on the district <br />tax for the OCS, which was resoundingly defeated, with the school board leading the charge <br />against the tax. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />5. Resolution of Intent to Adopt FY2018 -19 Annual Operating Budget <br />• Approval of Resolution of Intent to Adopt FY2018 -19 Annual Operating Budget at <br />the Board of County Commissioners Regular Meeting on June 19, 2018 <br />Paul Laughton, Finance and Administrative Services, presented this item and reviewed <br />the Resolution of Intent. <br />Resolution of Intent to Adopt the 2018 -19 <br />Orange County Budget <br />The items outlined below summarize decisions that the Board acted upon June 12, 2018 in <br />approving the FY2018 -19 Orange County Annual Operating Budget. <br />WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Commissioners has considered the Orange County <br />FY2018 -19 Manager's Recommended Budget; and <br />WHEREAS, the Commissioners have agreed on certain modifications to the Manager's <br />Recommended Budget as presented in the FY2018 -19 County Manager's Recommended <br />Budget on May 1, 2018; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />expresses its intent to adopt the FY2018 -19 Orange County Budget Ordinance on Tuesday, <br />June 19, 2018, based on the following stipulations: <br />1) Property Tax Rates <br />a) The ad valorem property tax rate shall be set at 85.04 cents per $100 of assessed <br />valuation. <br />
