<br />The Hoard of Commissioners of Orence County met on 2dondey, November 18, 1957,
<br />at 1:30 o'clock P. M. in special Bess ion in tho Commis si onars' Room at the Courthouse
<br />with all members present.
<br />Mr. Grey Culbreth, Chairman of the Hoard of the Chanel Rill School Administrati va
<br />Unit, end J. Q,. LeGrend, their Attorney, epos Bred before the Hoard of Commissioners
<br />and presented the following resolution adopted by the Chapel Hill School 3oard:
<br />"WF~REAS, the Chapel H111 City Soard of Education, by various conveyances of
<br />record in the office of the Register of Deeds of Orange County, has become and is
<br />now the owner of a tract of land located in Chapel Hill Township, Orange County,
<br />North Carolina, containing approximately thirty-six acres, which tract of land was
<br />knorm as Tract I of tho Wileg Henderson property end was allotted to Ylillis J.
<br />Henderson in the Division of the Wileg Henderson property, a report of which D1vi- '..
<br />si on is recorded In Book 52, Page 173, Orange Countg Registry; and, ''..
<br />47HEREAB, there is located on apart of said thirty-six (36) acre tract of land ''~.

<br />excluded from the deeds by which said thirty-six acre tract of land was conveyed to
<br />the Chapel Eill City Board of Education by the various heirs of I.71111s J. Henderson;

<br />its public functions end duties as prescribed oy larr and it has become necessary
<br />end expedient, in the opinion of the County Comrissi onars of Orange County that the
<br />graves in said old cemetery or burying ground be removed as provided by Sections 65 -
<br />13 and 65 - 15, General Statsstas of North Carolina;

<br />in their opinion, the removal of the gr eves nom located in the old private cemetery
<br />or burying ground hereinbefore referred to is ne cessarg end exnedi ant in order that
<br />the Chanel H111 City Board of Education may properly perform the duties and functions
<br />imposed upon it by law in the operation of the public schools end in the construction
<br />and over ati on of buildings, nlaggrounds and improvements necessary thereto, end that
<br />said graves may be removed by the Chanel Hi11 City Hoard of Education from their
<br />present locations to suitable nl ots in some other cemetery, as provided in General
<br />Statutes of North Carolina, Sections 65 - 13 and 65 - 15, after notice as required
<br />by law, said work of removal to be under the supervision of the Countg Health Officer
<br />and the board of County Cormissi onars of Orange Countg.
