14inutes of the Boerd of Commissioners <br />November 4, 1957 <br />83 <br />The Orange County Hoard of Commissioners met on Monday, November i}, 1957, at <br />10 o'clock A. M. in the Cpmmissi oners' Room at the Courthouse in H111s boro, N. C. <br />t4embers present: Chairman R. J. 14. Eobbs, Commissioners Donald McUada, Dwight tA. <br />Rag, Donald Stanford and Henry Ylalker, <br />Members absent: None. <br />The minutes of the October meetings were read and approved. <br />Dirs. Clarence Jones, representative of the Hillsboro Garden Club, mede a report <br />on the progress of the Historical I•?useum. She requested on behalf of her Club, that <br />the unemployment group, which now meets Sn the Courtroom of the Old Courthouse, be <br />moved from this location to the basement of the New Courthouse. She also asked that <br />the weights and measures which are now an display 1n the Naw Courthouse be moved to <br />the Museum. <br />I3rs. Jones was informed that the hies eum Committee has permission to move the <br />weights and measures to the I•?useum, and that some arrangements would be made to <br />re-locate the meeting place for the unemployment group. <br />Ren orts were given for the month of October, 1957, bg the following Department <br />Officials: <br />Ode11 Clagton, Sheriff; <br />Jessie Trowbrld~e, Home Demonstration Agent; <br />Frank I4addry, Dellnauent Tax Collector; <br />Jane Parker, ldelS are Superintendent; <br />E. ht. Lynch, Clerk of Court; <br />iJalter I•lrena, Civil Defense Director; end <br />I?rs, Nivens, District Libreri an, <br />IInon motion of Commissioner Stanford, seconded by Cortsnis stoner Sag, and unanimousl <br />passed, the Register of Deeds was authorized to turn over to the Garden Club all of <br />the conies of ORAIIGE COUNTY 1752-1952". The Club is to keen the money from the sale <br />of these books. <br />The County Attorney and the County Accountant are to draw a resolution pertainiag <br />to the books which ere stored at the Orange Print Shop unbound. They were reeues ted <br />to investigate the printinc, contract which was slened bg Orange County at the time <br />the first books entitled "033^iGE COUPIPY 1752-19526 were printed. <br />The County Accountant informed the Hoard that I•?r. Ferrell from Chapel H111 has <br />be en retained to repair the plumbing in the Jail. <br />Mr. Clarence Jones of Hillsboro epneared before the Boerd and spoke against the <br />~iprop os ed electrical inspection ordinance. <br />'' Upon motl on of Commissioner :•lalker, seconded by Cormnis si oner Stanford, and <br />''unanimously approved, Mr. 47eltar Llrenn, Civ11 Defense Director, was authorized to <br />'.pro teed with arrang emente to purchase emergeneg hospital equipment for an amount not <br />'to exceed 5300.00. <br />A letter was read from I•Irs. Ros emend, Orange Countg's Electrica <br />inspectors, <br />Upon motion of Commis si oner Ray, seconded by Corrmds si on er Stanford and unanimously <br />passed, the following fee schedule was approved for the Electrical Inspectors: <br />Mr. Morrow - - - 55.00 per school <br />Mr. Rosamond - - a6.00 per school <br />The difference in the tyro schedules is to comnens ate Nu•, Rosemond far tr evel <br />Upon motion of Commissioner 4lslker, seconded by Comml ss i.oner Ray and unanimously ~~ <br />adopted, it was ordered that e supplemental eppr onrifltion of y1, 000.00 be made to the 'y <br />school budget from the un-appropriated surplus in the school current expense fund to <br />peg the expenses involved in complying with the School Inspection Law, <br />There wes s discussion on the proposed Ele etric al Ordinance which had been drawn <br />and submitted by the County Attorney, and it was decided that the Hoard should studg <br />the ordinance further before tekirgeny action. <br />The loll owing names were drawn to serve as jurors at the December Term of Hunarior <br />Court: <br />
