016 <br />e. New Voluntary Agricultural Districts <br />Stancil reported that the two new VADs (Miller and Bacon) approved by the <br />BOCC last month are in the process of signing and recording the agreements. <br />Once the agreements are recorded VAD signs will be installed on the farms and <br />the farmers will be offered a seat on the APB. <br />f. Comprehensive Plan Land Use Committee <br />The first meeting for the Comprehensive Plan Land Use Committee (CPLUC) is <br />scheduled for June 24t ". Made up of representatives from the county's advisory <br />boards and the county commissioners, the committee will serve as sounding <br />board for the Planning Departments different strategies for updating the Land <br />Use Element of the Comprehensive Plan. Mandell, the representative and <br />Ranells, the alternate will be providing reports to the APB for feedback. <br />ITEM #5: INFORMATIONAL ITEMS <br />a. Agricultural Preservation Goal <br />Kleese noted that he had asked for a copy of the Commissioners' Agricultural <br />Preservation goals and the APB's mission statement to keep everyone on track <br />with their assigned tasks. He suggested that the APB start to think about goals <br />for next year for inclusion to the BOCC annual retreat packet in November. As a <br />part of that process, Kleese asked the APB to revisit its charge or mandate to <br />make sure that any plans the group proposes to the Board fall within those <br />adopted goals. He also requested a flow chart of the advisory boards. <br />Stancil reviewed the BOCC's Rural Character Preservation Goal, which <br />references farmland preservation. Members discussed the process for <br />developing and adopting the goals. Members requested updated roster in next <br />agenda packet. <br />b. Items for next agenda <br />Revise Voluntary Farmland Preservation Program Ordinance (VFPPO) <br />Review Agricultural Resource Guide <br />Revisit APB charge /mission <br />Review of county attorney's comments on simplifying the VAD application form <br />to encourage more participation and revisit districts approved in 1992 where <br />agreement was never signed. (Gordon noted other county's forms had been <br />given to staff for review). <br />Discuss Orange County 250th plans. <br />ITEM #5: Adjournment <br />The APB adjourned at 9:15 p.m. <br />
