LIVESTOCK CONDITIONS <br />A. Review of Effects of Disaster Conditions on Livestock within Orange County, North <br />Carolina. <br />Wayne R. Yarbrough, Jr., Chairperson, solicited comments on any livestock losses that <br />may be directly related to the current drought conditions within Orange County. At <br />this point, several attendees notated that due to the drought conditions, several <br />producers were being forced to cut back herds'and therefore were beginning to flood <br />local Ivestock markets which had driven prices for livestock down throughout the past <br />several weeks It was notated that livestock market prices were off nearly 30% due the <br />fact that many producers did not have enough feed to sustain all livestock and had opted <br />-to sell now instead of waiting later in the year. Also, it was notated, the dairies located <br />in Orange County were experiencing losses in production due to the excessive heat <br />experienced within the previous month. Due to the fact that dairy cow milk production <br />had fallen off coupled with the recent drop in the price of milk, dairy operations in <br />Orange County were experiencing approximately a 25% loss in production. <br />VL ADJOURNMENT <br />Wayne R. Yarbrough, Jr., Chairperson, informed all attendees that a USDA Flash Situation Report <br />would be prepared for submission to the North Carolina State FSA Office with the crop damage <br />and current situation of the drought effects within Orange County. Mr. Yarbrough further <br />explained to the attendees that all current programs would be requested in order help producers <br />recover from the current emergency conditions due to drought Mr. Yarbrough solicited any and <br />all further comments. There being no further comments or questions by anyone in attendance, the <br />meeting was adjourned at 3:00 pm A <br />
