DRAFT MINUTES <br />AGRICULTURAL PRESERVATION BOARD <br />June 19, 2002 <br />PRESENT: Tony Kleese, Louise Tate, Elizabeth Walters, Rodney Recor, Noah <br />Ranells, Marty Mandell, Gordon Warren, Environment & Resource <br />Conservation Director David Stancil, Preservation Planner Tina <br />Moon, and Carol Melton. <br />ABSENT: Whit Morrow, Bob Strayhorn <br />ITEM #1: CALL TO ORDER <br />Kleese called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and thanked everyone for <br />attending. Stancil noted that on June 18, the BOCC appointed two new <br />members, Gordon Warren and Kimberly Roberts, and reappointed Marty <br />Mandell. Kleese noted that he had asked to review the goals from the BOCC for <br />the Agricultural Preservation Board in order to understand the group's charge <br />and to stay on task. <br />Kleese asked if anyone had new additions or items for consideration to the <br />agenda. He reported that the USDA National Conference on Sustainability <br />Agricultural Research, and Education is scheduled for October 23, 24, and 25 in <br />Raleigh. The program will include bus tours of sustainable farming operations. <br />ITEM #2: CONSIDERATION OF ADDITIONS TO AGENDA <br />Stancil reported that Commissioner Jacobs was unable to attend this meeting <br />due to conflict with a BOCC meeting and presented the appreciation gifts from <br />the BOCC to the APB members. He thanked everyone for the time and <br />expertise in the accomplishments of the APB. <br />Stancil distributed the Agricultural Resource Guide recently published by <br />Economic Development Commission and Mike Lanier. Members asked if the <br />Guides are free for citizens, and it was noted that the Guide would be on the <br />county's web page. <br />ITEM #3: APPROVAL OF MINUTES April 17, 2002 <br />MOTION: Ranells made motion to approve the April 17th, 2002 minutes. <br />Seconded by Walters and Mandell. <br />VOTE: Unanimous. <br />ITEM #4: ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION <br />DRAFT <br />a.
