DRAFT MINUTES AGRICULTURAL PRESERVATION BOARD June 19, 2002 PRESENT: Tony Kleese, Louise Tate, Elizabeth Walters, Rodney Recor, Noah Ranells, Marty Mandell, Gordon Warren, Environment & Resource Conservation Director David Stancil, Preservation Planner Tina Moon, and Carol Melton. ABSENT: Whit Morrow, Bob Strayhorn ITEM #1: CALL TO ORDER Kleese called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. and thanked everyone for attending. Stancil noted that on June 18, the BOCC appointed two new members, Gordon Warren and Kimberly Roberts, and reappointed Marty Mandell. Kleese noted that he had asked to review the goals from the BOCC for the Agricultural Preservation Board in order to understand the group's charge and to stay on task. Kleese asked if anyone had new additions or items for consideration to the agenda. He reported that the USDA National Conference on Sustainability Agricultural Research, and Education is scheduled for October 23, 24, and 25 in Raleigh. The program will include bus tours of sustainable farming operations. ITEM #2: CONSIDERATION OF ADDITIONS TO AGENDA Stancil reported that Commissioner Jacobs was unable to attend this meeting due to conflict with a BOCC meeting and presented the appreciation gifts from the BOCC to the APB members. He thanked everyone for the time and expertise in the accomplishments of the APB. Stancil distributed the Agricultural Resource Guide recently published by Economic Development Commission and Mike Lanier. Members asked if the Guides are free for citizens, and it was noted that the Guide would be on the county's web page. ITEM #3: APPROVAL OF MINUTES April 17, 2002 MOTION: Ranells made motion to approve the April 17th, 2002 minutes. Seconded by Walters and Mandell. VOTE: Unanimous.
