45 <br />INFORMATION AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE <br />Regional Planning Efforts <br />To ensure that we are protecting one million acres of important open space and not just any <br />million acres of land, we must sul: ort local open space planning efforts. A number of these <br />efforts are underway across the state in various different forms. The most effective planning <br />efforts are the ones that go beyond individual local boundaries to incorporate the open space <br />needs of an entire region. Ideally, these plans will be developed in a way that allows for <br />blending across regions as well.
