2 <br />the future represents a contract between the North Carolina <br />Cooperative Extension Service and the people of North Carolina <br />Cooperative Extension pledges to deliver education programs that <br />benefit individuals, families, communities and firms in addressing <br />those needs and concerns that they have helped to identify. The <br />identified needs and concerns and how they will be addressed are <br />encompassed in Visions for the Future. Through this four -year <br />program, the Extension Service is projecting a North Carolina with: <br />1) a productive and profitable agriculture; <br />2) a protected and enhanced environment; <br />3) stable communities <br />4) responsible youth; and <br />5) strengthened families <br />Health Department: Director <br />listing the services offered by <br />services are: <br />1) Family Planning <br />3) Adolescent Health <br />5) Immunizations <br />7) School Health <br />9) Sexually Transmitted <br />Diseases <br />11) HIV -AIDS Screen <br />13) Health Education <br />15) Health Promotion <br />17) Environmental Health <br />Dan Reimer distributed a brochure <br />the Health Department. Those <br />2) Pregnancy Testing <br />4) Maternal Health <br />6) Child Health <br />8) Adult Health <br />10) Communicable Diseases r <br />12) Tuberculosis - TB <br />14) Nutrition Program <br />16) Dental Promotion <br />18) Animal Control <br />He also discussed the most recent Community Diagnosis. Recent <br />research has concluded that Public Health in America is in <br />disarray. It is underfunded and many of its important outreach <br />services have been cut back. The idea of "community" as patient <br />was lost. Public Health is being challenged to rededicate itself. <br />HUMAN SERVICES ADVISORY COMMISSION POLICY FORUM: The topics under <br />consideration for this year's forum were discussed. Those topics <br />were 1) issues related to the elderly, 2) violence in the <br />community, and 3) coordination and collaboration between human <br />service agencies. <br />Bev Foster indicated that the Board of Health is looking at <br />the issue of violence in the community as a public health threat. <br />Several other- community groups are interested in the community <br />violence topic. Those mentioned were Smart Start, Children In <br />Youth and the Human Services Coordinating Council. There appears <br />to be a great deal of support in the community for this issue being <br />chosen as a forum topic. <br />Several members spoke in support of the choosing Community <br />Violence as a topic and suggested that coordination could be <br />discussed in one of the breakout group. <br />After further discussion, community violence was chosen as a <br />
