RR,; ner son , Sue Ru s sell , Bear Foster , Charlotte Jones, Sh 9 �-I_S <br />Siegel, Phil Cook- and NL L-ary Bacon. <br />HERS ABSENT: Co -Chair Karen Taylor, Don Willhoit , Curtis I y -L—E , <br />Leroy Jones, and Jan Riordan. <br />STAFF PRESENT: None. <br />ORIENTATION 1��!"ETI'1 G: Tonv Dalton and Bev Foster hosted an orientation <br />meeting intended to share historical information regarding hurmzLn <br />services in Orange County as well as to answer questions. The <br />following new members attended this session. Chris Gurley, Barbara <br />R.ynerson, Sue Russell, Anita Daniels and Charlotte Jones. Orientation <br />packets and Orange County Information and Referral Guides were <br />distributed to new members. <br />Tony convened the meeting at 7:40 p . m. with meirber introdlIcti ons <br />and updates on-the Boards -they represent and other related concerns. <br />MINUTES: The minutes of the May 15th meeting were approved by <br />consensus. <br />MEMBER UPDATES: General concerns were voiced regarding the budget <br />uncertainties in the State Legislature and how they were likely to <br />affect the local human service coMMunity. <br />Tong Dalton, mentioned the "Carolina Alternatives" program which <br />is a Medicaid waiver program allowi_i( increased fLL-2�xiba.lity in ho�7 <br />funds are used for recipients tradit-.ona.11y served by MeC� cai d. The <br />Developmental Disabilities conmunity does got seem- as comforta1.Dle wlith <br />the waiver as do those working with the mentally 1.1-1 . This program is <br />being handled on a per client bas-is thro;agh Carolina. T� d ternatives which <br />allows a certain amount of financial assistance for i.nd- ivi.dual clients <br />who were previously living in institutions and is being managed through <br />a Division of dental Health called Financial initiatives Section. He <br />mentioned that there is supposed to be a State match of funds for this <br />program, however, no money was budgeted for that. The State is asking <br />
