MINUTES <br />HUMAN SERVICES ADVISORY COMMISSION <br />DECEMBER 16, 1991 <br />The regularly scheduled meeting of the Human Services Advisory Commission <br />was held on Monday, December 16, 1991 at 7:15 p.m. in the Commissioner's <br />Conference Room, Court Street Annex Building, Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: Barbara Warren, Don Wilihoit, Chris Gambill, Barbara Warren, <br />Jan Riordan, Co- Chair, Phil Cooke, Co- Chair, Tarleton Davis, Peggy Pollitzer, <br />Shirley Siegel, Bev Foster and Jan Schopler. <br />MEMBERS ABSENT_ Harold Murdock, Martha Branscombe, Edith Hubbard, Luther Brooks, <br />Hazel M. Quick, Mary Davison, and Jan Riordan. <br />STAFF PRESENT: Kathy Baker, Deputy Clerk and Margaret Henderson, MPA Intern. <br />ADDITIONS /CHANGES TO AGENDA: t,1) Education Foundation - Coupon Books ( 2) Report <br />on Commissioners Retreat. <br />MINUTES: A motion was made by Peggy PoIIitzer, seconded by Don Wiilhoit, to <br />approve the minutes of the November 18, 1991 meeting, as corrected. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />POLICY FORUM -FINAL REPORT: Bev Foster i nci i cated the.. t:ounty Commissioners have <br />received this report, as well as all attachments mentioned in the report. All <br />participants received the report without the attachments. -the vision statement <br />and a tentative plan for reaching that vision were included in the report. This <br />year's forum has been scheduled for September 16, 19�2 and will ne held at the <br />Friday Center. Phil Cooke suggested HSAC members present the vision statement <br />to the other Boards on which they sit. These Boards need to be asked if they <br />would consider using this vision statement in evaluating programs and planning <br />for the future. This statement w ill also be presented to the County Management <br />Team for discussion and feedback. Jan Schopler indicated that she felt getting <br />feedback from participants as soon as possible on the vision statement was very <br />important. Bev Foster felt it should be used as a guideline for current programs <br />and that next year's forum should review and discuss how to incorporate this <br />statement into human service planning. <br />ANNUAL REPORT: Ned Brooks indicated that the Annual Report has been completed <br />and forwarded to the Commissioners. This report wiII be attached to these <br />minutes for those HSAC members who were not at the December meeting. <br />INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS - AGENDAS AND EXPECTATIONS: Members were asked to take a few <br />minutes to share their own persona agendas and expectations for the cominq near. <br />Barbara Warren indicated she would like to see more communication between <br />different Boards. Peggy Pol litzer suggested starting with the HSAC itse It. If <br />a member represents another Board they could be asked to give a 10 minute report <br />on what that Board is doing, etc. <br />
