Based on previous comments/recommendations, as well as direction from the BOCC, staff has <br />completed the following: <br />a. Collapsing existing tables as contained in Section(s) 5.2.1 (general use zoning <br />districts), 5.2.2 (EDD general use zoning districts), and 5.2.3 (Conditional Zoning <br />districts) into a centralized permitted use table. <br />b. Collapse similar land uses into single categories eliminate the ‘exhaustive’ list of <br />land uses as originally directed. <br />c. Modification of Article 10 Definitions of the UDO to incorporate new and/or revised <br />definitions of various land uses consistent with the proposed new table. <br />d. Incorporate modifications to the Economic Development Hillsborough (EDH) <br />districts as recommended by the BOCC late in 2016. This included expanded <br />allowable land uses within the various EDH general use zoning districts. <br />At this time the schedule for completing work on this amendment package is as follows: <br /> <br />• July 2, 2018 – Table of Permitted use amendment package released for additional <br />internal staff peer review including review by the County’s Attorney Office; <br />• July 11, 2018 – ORC meeting to review and comment on the amendment package; <br />• Week of July 16 through July 20, 2018 – Staff will attempt to meet with elected officials to <br />discuss the proposal and solicit comments; <br />• July 25, 2018 – Open House to invite comment(s) from the general public; <br />• August 1, 2018 – Final ORC meeting to review and comment on the proposal; <br />• August 6, 2018 – Release of amendment package to our planning partners for courtesy <br />review; <br />• August 15, 2018 – Open House to invite comment(s) from the general public; <br />• Week of August 20 through August 24, 2018 - Staff will continue to meet with <br />interested/available elected officials to review proposal. Staff will be finalizing the <br />amendment package for Planning Board review; <br />• August 29, 2018 – Final Open House to present the amendment package to the general <br />public; <br />• September 5, 2018 – Planning Board review and recommendation; and <br />• November 1, 2018 – BOCC public hearing (first available date). <br /> <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Consideration and approval will not create the need for additional funding <br />for the provision of County services. Existing staff, included in the Departmental staffing budget, <br />will accomplish the work required to process this amendment. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Planning Director recommends the Planning Board receive the <br />amendment package and provide feedback to staff on the proposed amendment(s). <br /> <br /> 3
