Article 10: Definitions <br /> Section 10.1: Definitions <br /> <br />Orange County, North Carolina – Unified Development Ordinance Page 10-61 <br /> <br />Temporary Use Building <br />A building, not intended for residential use, consisting of one or more modules constructed off the ultimate <br />site of use. The building is also not attached to a permanent or semi-permanent foundation. <br />Ten-Year Transition Land <br />Land located in areas that are in the process of changing from rural to urban densities and/or intensities, <br />that are suitable for higher densities and/or intensities and could be provided with public utilities and <br />services within the first 10-year phase of the Comprehensive Plan update or where such utilities and <br />services are already present or planned. Non-residential uses implemented in accordance with small <br />area plans and/or overlay districts may be appropriate. <br />Theater <br />A building or outdoor area in which plays and other performances are given and/or viewed including, but <br />not limited to: comedy performances, dance companies, dinner theater, improvisational theater, motion <br />pictures, musicals including symphonies, operas, puppet, and plays. <br />Tourist Home <br />A building or group of attached or detached buildings containing, in combination, three to nine lodging <br />units for occupancy for daily or weekly periods, with or without board, and primarily for occupancy by <br />transients, as distinguished from rooming houses, in which occupancy is primarily by residents rather than <br />transients. <br />Traffic Generation: Low <br />Uses which generate an average of less than 200 vehicle trips per day. <br />Traffic Generation: Medium <br />Uses which generate an average of between 200 and 800 vehicle trips per day. <br />Traffic Generation: High <br />Uses which generate an average of more than 800 vehicle trips per day. <br />Transmission Lines <br />a) For lines carrying electrical energy, transmission lines are those which carry 45,000 volts or more. <br />b) For lines which carry liquids or gases, transmission lines are those operating or designed to <br />operate at pressures of one hundred pounds per square inch or greater. <br />Travel Trailer <br />A structure that is: <br />a) Intended to be transported over the streets and highways (either as a motor vehicle or attached to <br />or hauled by a motor vehicle), and <br />b) Designed for temporary use as sleeping quarters, but that does not meet the definition of a <br />manufactured home. <br />Tree, DBH <br />Diameter at breast height of a tree, which is measured at 4.5 feet above ground surface level. <br />Tree, Critical Root Zone <br />The minimum area beneath a tree which must be left undisturbed in order to preserve a sufficient root <br />mass to give a tree a reasonable chance of survival. The critical root zone is approximately one foot of <br />radial distance for every inch of tree's DBH, with a minimum of eight feet. <br />Tree, High Value <br />A tree that meets or exceeds the following standards: for pine species, 14” DBH or greater, or 18” or <br />greater stump diameter, and for hardwood or wetland species, 16” DBH or greater, or 24” or greater <br />stump diameter. <br /> 199
