Article 5: Uses <br /> Section 5.6: Standards for Commercial SERVICE Uses <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Orange County, North Carolina – Unified Development Ordinance Page 5-67 <br /> <br />(B) Standards of Evaluation <br />(1) Sexually oriented business(es) shall not be located in any building, or portion <br />thereof, that is: <br />(a) Within 1,000 feet of an existing sexually oriented business. <br />(b) Within 1,000 feet of a: <br />(i) Residential land use including any open space established as <br />part of the residential subdivision approval process, <br />(ii) Church and/or place of worship, <br />(iii) School (public, private, or specialty), <br />(iv) Public or private library, <br />(v) State licensed child care facility, or <br />(vi) Public park or recreational facility. <br />(c) Measurement shall be made in a straight line, without regard to the <br />intervening structures or objects, from the nearest portion of the building <br />or structure used as the part of the premises where a sexually oriented <br />business is conducted to the nearest portion of a building, structure, or <br />open space area of a use listed above. <br />5.6.17 Storage of Goods27 <br />(A) Standards for the GC-4, EC-5 and O/RM Zoning Districts <br />(1) No external storage shall be permitted. All items shall be stored in doors. <br />(2) Rental of moving equipment, including vehicles, shall be permitted subject to the <br />following: <br />(a) Vehicles shall not be parked and/or stored within 30 feet of a property <br />line. <br />(b) Vehicles shall be stored within an area enclosed by a 8 foot chain link <br />fence. A Type B Land Use Buffer, as detailed in Section 6.8.6 of this <br />Ordinance, shall be erected around the perimeter of the fence. <br />(B) Standards for the I-1, I-2, I-3 and REDA-CZ Zoning Districts <br />(1) External storage shall be permitted subject to the following standard(s): <br />(a) No storage shall take place within 30 feet of a property line. <br />(b) External storage areas shall be enclosed by an 8 foot chain link fence. A <br />Type B Land Use Buffer, as detailed in Section 6.8.6 of this Ordinance, <br />shall be erected around the perimeter of the fence. <br />(2) Rental of moving equipment, including vehicles, shall be permitted. Vehicle <br />storage areas shall comply with the development standards contained herein. <br />5.6.18 Service Uses Not Listed <br />(A) Submittal Requirements <br />(1) In addition to the information required under Section 2.7of this Ordinance, the <br />following shall be submitted as part of the application: <br /> <br />27 This is intended to cover self‐storage facilities.  <br /> 140
