Planning Board Rules of Procedure <br /> <br />Perdita Holtz, Planner III (919) 245-2578 <br />Craig Benedict, Director (919) 245-2575 <br /> <br /> <br />PURPOSE: To review and comment upon Planning Director initiated Unified Development <br />Ordinance (UDO) text amendments to revise the existing public hearing process for UDO and <br />Comprehensive Plan-related items. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: Please see Section B of Attachment 1 for relevant information. Two options <br />are proposed to be presented at the September quarterly public hearing – Option A (Attachment <br />2) would have the Planning Board make its recommendation earlier in the process (e.g., before <br />the public hearing) while Option B (Attachment 3) would retain the existing cadence of having <br />the Planning Board make its recommendation after the public hearing. Both options would <br />revise the existing process to no longer require a Planning Board quorum in order to hold the <br />public hearing, but the Planning Board would still be expected to attend the quarterly public <br />hearings. <br /> <br />Additionally, revisions to the Planning Board Rules of Procedure (Attachment 4) are proposed to <br />reflect discussion by the BOCC at its May 12, 2015 work session. <br /> <br />The “Amendment Outline Form” (Attachment 1) for these amendments was approved by the <br />BOCC at its June 2, 2015 regular meeting. <br /> <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Please refer to Section C.3 of Attachment 1. <br />17
