Individuals who <br />utilize El Centro Hispano's Community Engagement & Support Services are <br />individuals who may not know about community resources, experience barriers <br />whether it be due to limited English proficiency, cultural differences, and/or do not <br />meet eligibility requirements, who may not understand wordy applications or agency <br />processes, who are just new to the area and are becoming familiar with what is <br />around or are needing a sense of community. <br />f) Who is your target population of individuals to benefit from this program and how will they be <br />identified and connected with the program? <br />El Centro Hispano serves primarily the Latino population of all ages residing in <br />Orange County, its municipalities, and surrounding areas. While we focus primarily <br />on the Latino community, we serve all community members who find out programs <br />and services beneficial to them. Recently, our Carrboro office has experienced an <br />increase number of Burmese residents accessing services. <br />Community members learn about El Centro Hispano and its services through word <br />of mouth, outreach efforts, partner agencies, government agency referrals, and <br />social, broadcast, and print media. <br />gj Describe the credentials of the program manager and other key staff. (Ex. Identify Program <br />Manager and credentials, describe training provided to volunteers, etc.) <br />Sor Gonzalez is the Community Specialist for the Community Support Services at <br />the Carrboro office. She works closely with community organizations and families to <br />connect them with needed services related to their needs or desired goals, Sor is an <br />Educator with a degree in Early Childhood Education and has over 15 years of <br />experience working with families, supporting learning and behavior change, and <br />resolving concerns. She works closely with a team of volunteers to assist <br />community members in Orange County. <br />Eleazar Posada is our Program Manager for the Advocacy and Community <br />Engagement initiative. He holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree with a concentration on <br />Pre -Law from Campbell University. He comes with experience in mobilizing <br />communities, informing policy, developing community leaders, and advocacy. He <br />works closely with staff and volunteers to hold forums, inform on issues, develop <br />new leaders, and build collaborations. <br />h) Describe the specific period over which the activities will be carried out and include an <br />implementation timeline. <br />Services are delivered year - round. Office hours are gam — 5pm with some evening <br />and weekend hours available for some services.
