Blythe, ext 2130 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Chapel Hill. 968501 <br />.Durham 688-7331 <br />Mebane 336-227-2031 <br />PURPOSE: To consider one change in the County Commissioners' regular meeting calendar <br />for year 2000. <br />BACKGROUND; Pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 153A~0, the Board of County <br />Commissioners must fix the time and place of its meetings ar provide a notice of any change in <br />the Regular Meeting Schedule. On December 7, 2000, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission <br />and the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board will be holding the oral evidentiary presentations on <br />the environmental contentions associated with Carolina Power and Light's high level radioactive <br />waste storage expansion plans. That meeting will be at the McKimmon Center in Raleigh. In <br />preparation for that meeting, the County Commissioners will consider adding a meeting to their <br />regular meeting calendar for December 6, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel Hill Town Council <br />Chambers. The purpose of the meeting will be to provide an opportunity for Dr. Gordon <br />Thompson to give a 30-minute presentation followed by questions and answers from County <br />Commissioners and the public. The meeting will be televised. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: NONE <br />RECOMMENDATION (S): The Manager recommends that the Board amend their regular <br />meeting calendar by adding a meeting for.December 6, 2000 at 7:30 p.m, at the Chapel Hill <br />Town Council Chambers for the purpose as stated above. <br />
