The ArtsCenter <br />publicized and <br />has a very successful School Show Series, and all students <br />promoted to reach <br />participating in the Artist in Residence program come to the theater <br />intended <br />to see shows directly linked to what they are learning in their <br />participants? <br />classrooms. The School Show Series draws students from many <br />different counties for field trips. Before the shows begin, the Artist in <br />Residence program is promoted so other schools are aware of <br />residency offerings. The School Show Series, as well as the Artist in <br />Residence program, is also publicized through a color poster that is <br />disseminated to all area schools <br />To keep parents and families informed about the program, letters are <br />sent home to parents prior to the start of residencies explaining the <br />art focus and curriculum goals. The letters also invite parents to <br />come observe the last session. Teachers and PTAs also include <br />information about the residencies in their classroom and school <br />newsletters. Finally, teachers often times host `parent nights' to <br />coincide with residencies as a way to showcase what students have <br />learned. In addition, Orange County Schools hosts a district -wide <br />event every Spring called Cultural Explosion, and every year several <br />grade levels from schools participating in the Artist in Residence <br />program participate either by hosting booths displaying created work <br />or participating in on -stage performances. <br />How will you The Artist in Residence program will be evaluated qualitatively <br />evaluate the success through student and teacher evaluations administered by The <br />of the program? ArtsCenter. These evaluations will assess the effectiveness of the <br />program in regard to student engagement, ability to understand <br />covered curriculum concepts and ease of planning. The ArtsCenter's <br />Arts in Education Coordinator will also meet with all teachers <br />following the residencies for evaluation sessions, where they will <br />discuss strengths of the program, impacts they observed and areas <br />to be improved in the future.
