DocuSign Envelope ID: 4657CA02- 746E- 4CBC- BE73- 725840490057
Project /Program I am endeavoring to host an ongoing figure drawing and basic
Summary painting class for students of all skill levels in my soon to be newly
renovated studio space in Hillsborough. For this I am requesting
funds to purchase seven new easels in anticipation of the students'
needs. I am in the midst of renovating a 100 - year -old residence in the
historic district that will house my new studio: ample space for a
class of 6 — 10 students. OCNC funds would be used to purchase the
seven new easels to add to the three that I already have. Six of the
new easels will be Testrite # 500 Collapsible Aluminum Easels and the
seventh will be a Master Multi- Function Studio Artist Easel to
accommodate larger works.
I am covering all other renovation and studio costs apart from the
new easels. The renovation costs are near impossible to tabulate
right now as we haven't completed them yet (they'll run somewhere
between $20,000 and $80,000), but I will also be purchasing a number
of tables, drapes, paints, and various other sundry items that will run
about $350 in total.
Community Impact Artists of all walks lack opportunities for comprehensive life
instruction directly from the model. When I studied in Florence, Italy
we worked from the live model five days a week, eight hours a day. I
intend for the class to meet once a week, often with a live model so I
can go into great depth with anatomy instruction, light, volume,
medium choices and lost old master techniques. This at least will
offer a primer for artists on what to look for when working from the
live model (or life drawing /painting in general). I believe that
beginning a studio that focuses on intensive study in a relaxed
atmosphere can only positively impact the artistic population of
Hillsborough and the surrounding areas.
Artist Experience I have many years of experience instructing all levels, from children
up through college classes; but I mainly prefer an intimate, small
group that I can really focus on. I find teaching very rewarding,
especially with a dedicated group of serious students. Whether it's
been one -day workshops or ongoing sessions I've always found my
students to be very pleased with the progress they've made.
Budgeted Expense
4fa917d3- 3828 - 4849- 85c8- df75b555f46d.xlsx
Budgeted Income
a8152741- 55ae -49d9- 8940- fd209c2eca8c.xlsx
Resumes of artists /administrators
Max Miller CV 2018.doc
Publicity Samples
Work Samples
calypsostudy.jpg
dreads.jpg
