This Section includes TAB to produce design objectives for the following: <br />1. Air Systems: <br />a. Constant - volume air systems. <br />2. Hydronic Piping Systems: <br />a. Constant -flow systems. <br />b. Variable flow systems. <br />3. HVAC and other equipment quantitative - performance settings, including cooling towers, <br />boilers, water heaters, air handling units, DX units, heat pumps, pumps, etc. <br />4. Kitchen hood airflow balancing. <br />5. Verifying that automatic control devices are functioning properly. <br />6. Reporting results of activities and procedures specified in this Section. <br />1.2 SUBMITTALS <br />A. LEED Submittal: <br />1. Air - Balance Report for LEED Prerequisite EQ 1: Documentation of work performed for <br />ASHRAE 62.1 -2004, Section 7.2.2, "Air Balancing." <br />B. Strategies and Procedures Plan: Within 30 days from Contractor's Notice to Proceed, submit 4 <br />copies of TAB strategies and step -by -step procedures as specified in Part 3 "Preparation" Article. <br />Include a complete set of report forms intended for use on this Project. <br />C. Daily Field Data reports: During testing and balancing operations, submit actual field data reports to <br />Engineer daily via fax or email. Daily reports should include actual readings taken and any problems <br />encountered during that day. <br />D. Certified TAB Reports: Submit four copies of reports prepared, as specified in this Section, on <br />approved forms certified by TAB firm. <br />E. Warranties specified in this Section. <br />1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A. TAB Firm Qualifications: Engage a TAB firm certified by AABC or NEBB. <br />B. Certification of TAB Reports: Certify TAB field data reports. This certification includes the following: <br />1. Review field data reports to validate accuracy of data and to prepare certified TAB reports. <br />2. Certify that TAB team complied with approved TAB plan and the procedures specified and <br />referenced in this Specification. <br />C. TAB Report Forms: Use standard forms from AABC's "National Standards for Testing and Balancing <br />Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning Systems " or NEBB's "Procedural Standards for Testing, <br />Adjusting, and Balancing of Environmental Systems." <br />1.4 PROJECT CONDITIONS <br />A. Full Owner Occupancy: Owner will occupy the site and existing building during entire TAB period. <br />Cooperate with Owner during TAB operations to minimize conflicts with Owner's operations. <br />B. Partial Owner Occupancy: Owner may occupy completed areas of building before Substantial <br />Completion. Cooperate with Owner during TAB operations to minimize conflicts with Owner's <br />operations. <br />C. TAB will be conducted as a separate contract under the Owner. Refer to Project HVAC <br />Specifications and Drawings for requirements of General Contractor /HVAC Contractor to support <br />TAB operations. <br />1.5 COORDINATION <br />A. Coordinate the efforts of factory- authorized service representatives for systems and equipment, <br />HVAC controls installers, and other mechanics to operate HVAC systems and equipment to support <br />and assist TAB activities. <br />B. Perform TAB after leakage and pressure tests on air and water distribution systems have been <br />satisfactorily completed. <br />C. Convene and conduct a TAB coordination meeting, no more than two weeks prior to starting TAB <br />activities on site. Attendees shall include Owner's representative, Engineer, General Contractor, <br />HVAC subcontractor, controls installer, and any others necessary to support TAB activities. Agenda <br />shall include: schedule for TAB activities, support and coordination required, status of deficiencies <br />noted in TAB inspections specified in this Section, and any other items necessary to complete testing <br />and balancing in accordance with this section. <br />1.6 WARRANTY <br />A. National Project Performance Guarantee: Provide a guarantee on AABC's "National Standards for <br />Testing and Balancing Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning Systems" forms stating that AABC <br />will assist in completing requirements of the Contract Documents if TAB firm fails to comply with the <br />Contract Documents. Guarantee includes the following provisions: <br />1. The certified TAB firm has tested and balanced systems according to the Contract <br />Documents. <br />2.
