Child is likely to have new responsibilities at Dome and can be <br />resentful about this. <br />A death may lead to a change in the child's plans for the future. Perhaps, after a parent's death, a teen <br />may not be able to afford to attend his or her college of choice, or may not have the help with college <br />applications that the deceased parent would have provided. <br />And as previously discussed, grieving children of all ages may experience a decreased sense of security <br />and safety, which can be experienced as another loss. <br />Duke Bereavement Services cannot meet all of these needs. It is our hope to provide as much support as <br />possible to families to support them as they learn to cope with change brought about by loss. <br />Additionally, we strive to provide educational opportunities for school personnel to assist them in <br />learning about the unique challenges brought about by loss and support there in developing successful <br />interventions for meeting the children's needs while in the school setting. <br />
