DocuSign Envelope ID: 92F81BA3- 0613- 40DE- ACD5- AA8B6D32ABCA
Request Summary As our organization continues to grow and the word about our
mission spreads, so does the demand for our services. This
continued program growth requires that we (now located at our new
office in YouthWorx in Carrboro) continue to develop our teaching
methodology, program evaluation, and training programs and
policies for the college student leaders who oversee the operations
of each chapter. Accordingly, we are requesting funding that will
enable us to continue to build on the success and growth we
achieved for our programs over the last few years, as we work toward
the top priority identified in our strategic plan for the next 18 -24
months — the continued development of our program standards,
teaching methodology, and evaluation process, which will be led by
our staff.
Organizational Goals Through free, one -on -one music lessons, Musical Empowerment
(ME) nurtures meaningful relationships between collegiate mentors
and children in under - served communities. These relationships
foster confidence, creativity and self - discipline to engender growth
and success in both mentor and mentee.
Goals:
- Promote access to music education for communities lacking or
underfunded in music programs.
- Foster development of creativity, discipline, and confidence in
children from marginalized backgrounds, giving them the tools they
need to excel in their future endeavors.
-Forge mentorship between college students and youth in their
respective communities.
- Collaborate with other music /arts organizations, university
programs, and businesses to harness social capital and meet the
growing demand for music education.
We have established norms for the most important variables,
particularly those associated with teacher, parent and student
satisfaction, as well as student progress musically and in terms of life
skills. Our normed and regularly used parent, student, and teacher
surveys and progress reports, given every semester as a
prerequisite for continued participation, are now standard procedure.
Each year has seen substantive progress, not only in the measures,
such as percent of highly satisfied parents, but in the measurement,
that is, our ability to derive pictures of meaningful numerical change.
Given the intensifying issues of student and family privacy, we will
always face challenges in gathering detailed information, but we will
continue to look for useful proxies.
The Grassroots Arts Program Grant funds will support the continued
development of our program standards and teacher evaluation
process, including lesson observation. These efforts will be
developed and implemented by our staff. All program standards and
evaluation /observation methods are pilot- tested at our largest
chapter at UNC- Chapel Hill, thus 100% of the grant funds will serve
the participants in Chapel Hill - Carrboro.
