In <br />addition to being a former teacher, Pipkins is a well - established local <br />artist who frequently works with the Paperhand Puppet Troupe and <br />has a large portfolio of murals, video artwork, and other visual art <br />forms featured on his website, http: / /www.jeghetto.com /bio /. 2) <br />Drawing on the band's global background, Banda Magda will bring <br />world music to Phillips Middle School with its combination of South <br />American rhythms with jazz improvisation, cinematic arranging, <br />sophisticated audience participation, and mid - century classics. 3) All <br />Northside students will read at least one of Vanessa Brantley <br />Newton's children's books and then extend the experience with an art <br />and writing workshop. Ms. Newton describes how the adversity of not <br />seeing herself in books pushed and empowered her to ensure that all <br />children are beautifully and brilliantly represented in literature.
