DocuSign Envelope ID: C47948D9- B9E5 -47A1- 8138- 034257FEC2B7 <br />Project Start Date 1) the mural design for Estes Hills Elementary school will begin <br />(no earlier than July September 1, 2018; 2) plans for the Banda Magda visit will begin <br />1, 2018) October 1, 2018; and 3) contracts for the author /illustrator at <br />Northside Elementary will begin September 1, 2018. <br />Project End Date (no 1) the mural completion at Estes Hills Elementary school will be <br />later than June 30, before April 30, 2019; 2) the Banda Magda visit will end before May 1, <br />2019) 2019; and 3) the visit for the author /illustrator at Northside <br />Elementary will end before May 30, 2019. <br />Project Goals Arts programs at three Chapel Hill - Carrboro City Schools will benefit <br />from having artists -in- residence on their campus for the following <br />projects: a mural creation celebrating the 60th anniversary of Estes <br />Hills Elementary School; a musical training event at Phillips Middle <br />School with the orchestra classes that will culminate in a concert; <br />and an author /illustrator at Northside Elementary who will work with all <br />classes to learn about the creative writing process. Students will <br />work with and learn from the artists as they expand their art <br />experiences and learn from a teacher outside of their school <br />community. <br />Audience Description 1) The audience for the mural creation at Estes Hills Elementary <br />initially will be the 600+ students, teachers /staff, and families who <br />attend or work at the school. The mural will be enjoyed by the school <br />community for years to come. 2) The Banda Magda workshops and <br />concert will impact about 180 students and staff, and additional <br />members of the community who attend the free public concert. 3) <br />The 550+ students and staff at Northside Elementary will all be a part <br />of the creative writing workshops run by the visiting author /illustrator. <br />The ethinicity of the CHCCS is as follows: American Native or Alaska <br />Native -0.2 %; Asian - 14.4 %; Hispanic - 16.4 %; Black- 11.2 %; White - 51.3 %; <br />Multiracial -6.6 %. The Free or Reduced Lunch percentages for the <br />three schools are 28, 25, and 47% for Estes Hills Elementary, Phillips <br />Middle, and Northside elementary, respectively. <br />Location Description In all three cases, the artist -in- residence programs will occur at the <br />schools. <br />
