/ (O I4lnut es of the Do and of Commis sl oners <br />Monday, August 5, 1957 <br />The Board of Comunis sione rs of Orange County met in the Commissi oners' room of <br />the courthouse in Hillsboro, Iv, C., on Fionday, August $, 1957, at 10 o~cl oc!c a,m. <br />Members present: Chairman R. J. Pi. Hobbs, Comnissl oners Donald i?. Stanford and <br />Henry 5. llalker. <br />Members absent: Cormnissi oners Dwight Ai. Ray and Claud T, Pope. <br />The minutes for the meetings held during the month of July, 195 L were rend <br />by the Clerk and approved by the Hoard. <br />The following Department Officials presented rep orts for the month of July, 1957• <br />%etlugn, Pritchard, Asst. Lynch, Clerl: of Court <br />19alt er Plrenn, Veterans Service Officer <br />crank 14addry, Delinouent Ta:c Collector <br />Jane Parker, 4lelfera Supt. <br />Odell Clayton, Sheriff <br />A letter from Tom 3, Rose, City Fianager of Ch ¢nel FIi11, +ras recd recces ting <br />that appointments to the Doard of Adj us tme-t be made to fi 11 tl:e e:<plr ed terms <br />and other vecani os which now exist on the Board of Adjustment. The Coruni ssioners <br />requested that a letter of recommendation for appoint ess to the Boerd of Adjustment <br />be submitted by the Tocm of Chapel fii11. <br />The foil owing road petitions were presented: <br />Clyde Roberts requesting paving; the Board requested that '.:e get ¢ petition <br />signed and submitted to the Board; J, C, Jordan requested pevinE and P?ax^y S. Halsprin <br />requested graded & gravel. <br />The County Accountant wes asked to investigate the nerr N. C. General Statute <br />--'x•115-150,1 concerning the fire & electrical inspection law pertaining to the <br />monthly inspection of all schools in the county. The Board also requested that the ' <br />County Accountant meet with the elctric el inspectors of the county, after the forms <br />are secured from the Commissioner of Insurance, to discuss the Pee which is to be <br />paid by the county to inspectors for me etinC the State requirements. A report on <br />this matter is to be given at the next monthly meeting, <br />Commissioner Stanf ord esked that a latter be written to the llepzrtment of <br />I4otor Vehicles requesting that a nice for tee distribution of license elates be <br />made available in Chapel H111, 3i. C. <br />IInon motion of Cormissioner k7alker, sac onded by Conrd ssi oner Stanford, and <br />unanimously passed, the County Accountent was authorised to Snvest the j50,000.00 <br />School Debt Service ?ands in five Building & Loan Associations loc eted in this <br />irmnediate area, <br />47a1 ter 47renn, Civil Defense llirect or for Oren ge County, repuest efi that ¢ mutual <br />eid ¢gseement be drawn end signed by llurha:a and Orange Counties for the protection <br />of each county should Oren pc County heve to servo as a refugee are for Durham <br />County in the event of an enemy attack. This matter was referred to ti_e County <br />Hume Claytor, Health Inspector, appeared to discuss the proposed g¢rba ge disposal <br />h could be contracted by the County of Oran ee with the Tocm of Hillsboro, if <br />County would agree to pay the expense of havinF the gerbepe area covered each <br />the need arose, No action was taken on this matter. <br />There being no further business, upon motion, the meeting was adjourned. <br />R.
