We concentrate on the <br />musical traditions of the South, including blues, gospel, string band, <br />Native American and singer songwriter traditions, which are all vital <br />to our cultural wellbeing. Together, they form a deep aquifer from <br />which the world continues to draw artistic inspiration. <br />Music is an essential part of the social fabric that binds us together <br />as a nation. We strive to bring diverse audiences together to <br />celebrate our shared cultural heritage in order to improve their sense <br />of self, community and serve as a catalyst for social progress. <br />Music Maker identifies and serves artists who are vital links in our <br />American musical heritage, and whose music communicates part of <br />an important story. We promote cultural resiliency and sustainability, <br />two defining strengths of American roots music. We create social <br />equity through our working relationships with artists, which are <br />centered on respect for the artist as an individual and their unique <br />musical expression. <br />We believe that as traditional artists gain recognition and respect, <br />there is a positive ripple effect among the communities to which they <br />belong.
