For their commitment to traditional music, the state <br />honored the Branchettes in 1995 with the N.C. Folk Heritage Award. <br />Fire in My Bones, an award - winning ethnography, focused its lens on <br />the Branchettes' twenty -third singing anniversary program to explore <br />the spirituality and transcendent religious experiences of gospel <br />music tradition - bearers. The Branchettes continue to accept <br />invitations to perform far beyond their circle of churches, sharing <br />their music, traditions and faith at museums, universities, and <br />festivals across the region and overseas. <br />The Kings of Harmony are an all -male gospel group based in West <br />Hillsborough. In May of 2017, they celebrated their 60th Anniversary <br />at their home church First Community Baptist Mission Church. The <br />group has graced stages around the state and the country, passing <br />down the important cultural legacy of North Carolina from one <br />generation to the next of both audiences and performers. <br />Both The Branchettes and The Kings of Harmony are African <br />American. <br />Keri Frank is an artist with more than 20 years of experience in her <br />field. She has been a professional art educator in the Hillsborough <br />community as the Visual and Performing Arts Teacher at Eno River <br />Academy (formerly Orange Charter School) since 2008.
