SR <br />6 <br />7 MEMBERS PRESENT Those Present Are Bold And Underlined): Judy Cox Co- <br />8 Chair, _Louise Echols. -Co- chair, Natalie Ammarell, Christine Barfield, Marvin Block, <br />9 Dee Gamble, Mel Hurston, Barry Jacobs, Lynette Jeffries, Deborah Kinert, Geno <br />10 Pichette, Sue Russell, Herschel Slater, Donald David Thompson, Jr. <br />11 <br />12 STAFF PRESENT (Those Present Are Bold And Underlined): Albert Kittrell, <br />13 Assistant County Manager; Nancy Martin <br />14 <br />15 WELCOME AND MEMBER UPDATE: The members introduced themselves and gave <br />16 updates on their department's activities. <br />17 <br />18 UNITED WAY SURVEY Debbie Kinert reminded the members that there is a <br />19 questionnaire going out to human service agencies in Orange County. She stated that it <br />20 would be advisable that this group become familiar with the outcome of this needs <br />21 assessment that the Board of County Commissioners has contracted to be done with <br />22 the United Way. <br />23 <br />24 MINUTES - The minutes of July 19, 1999, were approved by consensus as presented. <br />25 <br />26 1999 FORUM - UPDATE <br />27 <br />28 Letters of Invitation <br />29 Albert Kittrell, Assistant County Manager, reported that his office mailed out <br />30 approximately 500 letters of invitation to the 1999 Forum, and has received about 100 <br />31 registration forms in response. Mr. Kittrell asked that if any member knows of anyone <br />32 else who should receive an invitation and a registration form that they contact his office. <br />33 <br />34 Opening Remarks <br />35 Mr. Kittrell also reported that since Commissioner Barry Jacobs could not be at this <br />36 meeting, he had requested Mr. Kittrell to ask the group whether there was anything <br />37 specifically they would like him to say in his opening remarks at the 1999 Forum. <br />38 <br />39 Mel Hurston, the Board of Health representative, voiced the feeling of the group that <br />40 Commissioner Jacobs' opening remarks should be as encouraging as possible to create <br />41 an atmosphere for the free and open exchange of ideas. <br />42 <br />43 Door Prizes <br />44 Mr. Kittrell said that we need to decide about whether to give out door prizes as part of <br />45 the Forum. Debbie Kinert said that the Forum program will be interesting and valuable <br />46 enough in itself to encourage the participants to stay as long as they need to. It was <br />47 also mentioned that this is a professional seminar; therefore, the group didn't feel that <br />48 <br />
