She likes to do things that make a difference that <br />'jId eventually influence people's opinions or influence actions. <br />Other Member Comments: <br />Newly- elected Co -Chair Wash asked for everyone to introduce themselves. She told about her activities at the <br />Interfaith Council Community Shelter. Ms. Hinton introduced herself as Management Analyst with the County <br />Manager's Office, who is taking Albert Kittrell's place as staff support for the HSAC. Ms. Kinzie introduced <br />herself as the alternate for Ms. Russell from the Partnership for Young Children, which is the local "Smart <br />Start" agency. <br />Mr. Block introduced himself as the representative of the Orange County Advisory Board on Aging, as well as <br />a member of the Subcommittee working on the new Senior Center. Ms. Bowe, Director of Services at the <br />Murdock Center, introduced herself. She is the representative of the Orange County Board of Social Services. <br />Ms. Echols introduced herself as a member At- Large. She works for the Orange County Health Department. <br />Mr. Hurston said he is on this Commission by way of the Orange County Board of Health, as its representative <br />on the HSAC. <br />Ms. Matthews is here as the nominee from the Cooperative Extension Service. She was formerly the Director <br />of Services for Exceptional Children for Orange County Schools. Ms. Barnhill introduced herself. Mr. <br />Thompson arrived at 5:50 p.m. and was informed that he had been elected Co -Chair along with Ms. Wash for <br />the upcoming year. He accepted the position and thanked the group. <br />6. Items for Discussion and /or Decision : <br />Strategic plan that was mentioned at the Nov. 19, 2001 meetina was discussed. <br />b. Retirement of Albert Kittrell, Assistant County Manager <br />Mr. Albert Kittrell, Assistant County Manager, officially retired the end of December, Ms. Hinton said. He is <br />very optimistic and looking forward to volunteering and working in the community. The County Manager's <br />office anticipates filling his position in May or June. The date and place for his retirement reception have not <br />yet been set. More information will be forthcoming. The members signed a congratulations card for him at the <br />meeting. <br />A card was also circulated for Ms. Debbie Kinert, former Co -Chair of the HSAC. <br />c. Adoption of 2001 Forum Report <br />The 2001 Forum Report, which was presented at the November 19, 2001 meeting, needs to be finalized <br />and adopted. Sharron Hinton, Management Analyst, had requested member comments by December 14, <br />2001, but did not receive any. Ms. Hinton handed out a Draft 2001 Forum Report to the members. <br />Rosetta called for discussion on the draft forum report. Mr. Hurston asked Ms. Hinton who this report would <br />be distributed to, and she said to Board of County Commissioners and to all participants. He asked if other <br />agencies would receive this report. Ms. Hinton said that would be possible. She said that her office sends it <br />to all the agencies that the are funded by the Board of County Commissioners. <br />Ms. Wash said that we should use some of the regular meeting next month to discuss the report and to <br />finalize it. <br />'OTION WAS MADE BY Mr. Hurston, seconded by Ms. Barnhill to use some time at the February meeting to <br />_)rk on recommendations on the Draft Forum Report for the 2001 HSAC Forum.
