0 4.2.j Promote Regional Bike to Work Month. - The Orange County TDM Coordinator
will follow marketing plans created in Top Task #3 to extend the reach of regional Bike to
Work Month campaign, leveraging ongoing efforts by the Sustainability Program and the
Planning and Inspections Department to catalog, map, and improve County bicycle
infrastructure. The TDM Coordinator will also organize and participate in encouragement
efforts to promote bicycling as a commute mode, including bicycle breakfasts, giveaways,
and other incentives.
Proposed Outputs and Outcome Tracking
• One meeting with Orange County Bicycle Safety Task Force to promote
Bike to Work Month and coordinate actions.
• Meet or call all top 5 employers as well as Durham Tech's Orange
County Campus and UNC Health Care - Hillsborough Campus to
promote participation in Bike to Work Month.
o For any employer who plans to participate, they will include the
Orange County TDM Coordinator on their messaging for tracking
purposes. Wherever possible, the Orange County TDM
Coordinator will participate to take pictures, collect testimonials,
and distribute information and promotional items.
• 1 website post with ways to participate
• Participate in 3 in- person events to promote Bike to Work Month.
• 4.3.c Promote TDM through social media -The Coordinator will collaborate with
County Public Relations staff and Communicators Committee to post TDM messaging on
County social media for all quarterly regional campaigns.
■ Proposed Outputs and Outcome Tracking
• 16 Posts on Social Media: 1 per week throughout the month of each
quarterly regional campaign.
• 5.2.a Increase marketing, promotion, and outreach to target areas. - The Orange
County TDM Coordinator will promote quarterly regional campaigns at existing events for
County employees and outreach opportunities within the Hillsborough hotspot throughout
the year such as the existing spring Earth Evening celebration, the summer Orange
County Expo, and the late fall Employee Appreciation Lunch.
■ Proposed Outputs and Outcome Tracking
• Active event participation and distribution of 50 branded promotional
items or informational pieces per event.
5.3.a Provide TDM information for special events. — As previously mentioned, the
OCCO Program will participate in existing large events throughout the year to promote
quarterly regional campaigns, but they will also provide TDM resources such as single -
event ride - matching to facilitate alternative transportation to the events. To reach out to
large event organizers, the Orange County TDM Coordinator will leverage the existing
relationships that have been established by the Solid Waste Management Department for
waste diversion activities. Given the pre- existing focus of these events on sustainable
waste diversion practices, organizers should be receptive to layering in outreach on travel
alternatives for the events.
■ Proposed Outputs and Outcome Tracking
• Meet or call all event organizers to connect them with TDM resources to
create transportation options for attendees.
o For any events that use TDM services, their participation will be
tracked through STRNC or through an after -event
communication /survey.
0 5.6.a Encourage students of driving age to use TDM services, especially during
peak hours. — The Orange County TDM Coordinator will partner with administrators at
Triangle J
Council of Governments
